Removals – Frequently Asked Question

For more information on moving home, please download OUR FREE HOME-MOVERS GUIDE.

Q: What do I need to do about insuring my items?
A: We offer a free, basic policy which covers you for repairs in the unlikely event we damage your goods and a like-for-like replacement if the item is damaged beyond economical repair (subject to our terms which are on the ‘Book & Pay’ page). Your items may be covered by your home contents policy which generally offers a more comprehensive level of cover so check with your insurer and advise us in advance of your move which policy you would like to cover your goods.

Q: Is there anything I you can’t put in your vehicles?
A: Any liquids which may leak and cause damage to your goods, gas canisters (full or empty), any caustic substances, fire extinguishers and cash or jewellery. Ultimately, we want to ensure your goods arrive safely so just bare in mind that our crew will not carry items which in any way could damage the load.

Q: Will you take plants?
A: Providing you have advised us in advance, we can take plants however; putting pots of damp soil in the back of our vehicle with your goods is entirely as your risk. Unfortunately plants are not covered by our insurance policy in the event they are damaged.

Q: Do I have to protect all of my pictures and mirrors with packing materials?
A: All glass products (including TV screens) that go into our vehicles should be sufficiently protected to ensure safe transit. Our crew will accept glass products that aren’t protected and they will be wrapped in a blanket once on the vehicle but we cannot accept responsibility for any damage if they aren’t properly protected.

Q: Will you un-plumb my washing machine and dishwasher?
A: If you advise us in advance we can assist for a small charge but as our crew are not qualified plumbers, it is entirely as your risk and we cannot accept any liability for subsequent damage caused to pipe-work or through leaks.

Q: Do you disassemble flat-pack furniture?
A: We do although it is charged extra. We do not re-assemble flat-pack furniture unless specifically confirmed in advance.

Q: I need to move on the weekend, can you help?
A: We are able to conduct full moves on weekends but it is advisable to book as far in advance as possible due to demand.

Q: Where will you conduct removals?
A: For moves to and from the South-East we can move you anywhere in the UK and Eire.

Q: Where can I obtain your terms of business?
A: By clicking here.

Clearance - Frequently Asked Question

Q: I require a written clearance quote for probate, can you supply one?
A: Yes, we are happy to provide written estimates.

Q: Will you pay for items you clear, such as furniture?
A: Unfortunately not, the market for second-hand furniture is very limited unless the items are pre-war or high-end contemporary furniture. The costs involved with collecting, storing and selling these items generally negates any profit we may obtain from selling them. We suggest you try an antique dealer or eBay if you believe the items have some value.

Q: What happens to the items you clear?
A: If possible, we will try and find a home for any decent furniture through local charities. Failing that, all clearance items are disposed of through a registered recycling depot.

Q: What items will you not clear?
A: Anything deemed hazardous such as asbestos which requires specialist removal. We only remove garden and building waste if it properly bagged.

Q: Do I need to have the clearance items outside ready for collection?
A: No, we will clear the items from their current location in the property, with the exception of the loft due to health & safety policies.

Q: Do you clear kitchen appliances?
A: Yes, providing they have been properly disconnected from the mains supply (cookers). Fridges & freezers are priced individually as they contain CFC gases which must be removed by a specialist before disposal.
